Dive Into Summer With Swim Lessons

Swim confidently this summer with youth and adult swim lessons. Lessons for June 1 through August 15 are now open for registration.
Youth Levels and Times:
Level 1                          Wednesdays                                  5:30–6:00 pm

Level 2                          Wednesdays                                  6:00–6:30 pm

Level 3                          Wednesdays                                  6:30–7:15 pm

Level 4                          Wednesdays                                  6:00–6:45 pm

Level 5                          Wednesdays                                  7:00–7:45 pm

 

Level 4                          Fridays                                              5:30–6:15 pm

Level 4                          Fridays                                              6:30–7:15 pm

Level 5                          Fridays                                              7:30–8:15 pm

 

Level 3                          Sundays                                           3:30–4:15 pm

 

Adult Levels and Times:                                                                      

Adult Beginner          Sundays                                           2:30–3:15 pm

 

Summer Session Price: $400.00

Offer is available only to members of Mount Carmel Fitness Center.

Sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable.

 

Class Descriptions

To sign up for each level, the participant must be age 6 or above and able to meet the prerequisites listed below.

 Level 1:

  • Afraid of water
  • Little to no swimming experience

 Level 2:

  • Enter the water unassisted
  • Move 5 yards, bob 5 times to chin level, safely exit the water
  • Glide on front with support for 3 seconds, recover to vertical position

 Level 3:

  • Step from the pool side into chest-deep water
  • Move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll over to back, float for 5 seconds, return to vertical position
  • Move into back float for 5 seconds, roll to front, recover to vertical position
  • Push off and swim using a combination of arm and leg actions for 5 body lengths on the front, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front, swim for 5 body lengths

 Level 4:

  • Jump into deep water from the pool side
  • Swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds, swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards

 Level 5:

  • Perform a feet-first entry into chest-deep water
  • Swim front crawl for 25 yards, change direction, swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards
  • Swim breaststroke for 15 yards, change direction, swim back crawl for 15 yards
