Give your child the gift of swimming confidently. Swim lessons for January 10 through March 1 are now open for registration.
Youth Levels and Times:
Level 1 Fridays 5:30-6:00 pm Exercise Pool
Level 2 Fridays 6:00-6:30 pm Exercise Pool
Level 3 Fridays 6:30-7:00 pm Exercise/Lap Pool
Level 4 Fridays 7:00-7:45 pm Lap Pool
(Two classes)
Level 5 Saturdays 9:45-10:30 am Lap Pool
Level 6 Saturdays 10:30-11:15 am Lap Pool
Adult Levels and Times:
Adult Beginner Sundays 1:00-1:45 pm Exercise Pool

Class Descriptions
To sign up for each level, the participant must be age 6 or above and able to meet the prerequisites listed below.
Level 1:
- Afraid of water
- Little to no swimming experience
Level 2:
- Enter the water unassisted
- Move 5 yards, bob 5 times to chin level, safely exit the water
- Glide on front with support for 3 seconds, recover to vertical position
Level 3:
- Step from the pool side into chest-deep water
- Move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll over to back, float for 5 seconds, return to vertical position
- Move into back float for 5 seconds, roll to front, recover to vertical position
- Push off and swim using a combination of arm and leg actions for 5 body lengths on the front, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front, swim for 5 body lengths
Level 4:
- Jump into deep water from the pool side
- Swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds, swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards
Level 5:
- Perform a feet-first entry into chest-deep water
- Swim front crawl for 25 yards, change direction, swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards
- Swim breaststroke for 15 yards, change direction, swim back crawl for 15 yards
Level 6:
- Perform a feet-first entry into chest-deep water
- Swim front crawl and elementary backstroke for 50 yards each
- Swim back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly for 25 yards each
- Head first standing dive
- Front facing flip turn
To sign up for each level, the participant must meet the prerequisites listed above. Children must be evaluated before registering unless they are currently enrolled in a Mount Carmel swim lesson program.
Offer is available to Mount Carmel Fitness Center members only. Sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable.
